Chikungunya

Dengue fever

Severe cases can lead to complications such as internal bleeding, shock, or death, requiring hospital care. With over half the world's population at risk, dengue's global incidence has risen sharply, causing around 36,000 deaths annually.

Yellow fever

Yellow fever is a short-term viral disease transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Common symptoms include fever, chills, nausea, back pain, headache, and loss of appetite, typically resolving within five days. However, the disease remains fatal for about 30,000 people globally each year.

Zika

Zika virus often causes no symptoms but may resemble dengue fever, with fever, red eyes, joint pain, headache, and a maculopapular rash. If contracted during pregnancy, it can lead to severe health conditions like microcephaly in newborns, causing lifelong disabilities.

Prevention

Prevent accumulation of stagnant water

Female mosquitoes lay their eggs in stagnant water, so it's essential to eliminate breeding grounds. Keep the yard tidy and check for water accumulation indoors and outdoors. Remove unnecessary water collection, cover water containers properly, and change the water in flower vases and plant saucers weekly to prevent mosquito breeding.
